Carnitas' Snack Shack – Nominated for Best New Restaurant by CRA

April 17, 2012

San Diego, Calif. – Chef Hanis Cavin and Sara Stroud’s restaurant Carnitas’ Snack Shack has been nominated by the San Diego County Chapter of the California Restaurant Association (CRA) for “Best New Restaurant.” Winners will be announced at the upcoming 2012 CRA Gold Medallion Awards. Cavin previously won “Chef of the Year” from the CRA in 2009.

Since its opening in December 2011, Carnitas’ Snack Shack has been garnering rave reviews from fans, foodies and industry insiders alike. The “Shack,” as it’s affectionately called, serves a pork-centric menu of locally sourced food, and will shortly be adding local craft beers to its offerings.

“It’s been a labor of love,” said Cavin, “and a concept that people have really embraced. We’re very thankful it’s taken off so well.”
