Burger Bash this Sunday at Carnitas' Snack Shack April 18, 2013 This Sunday, April 21 from 1-4, help celebrate Eater San Diego Burger Week at Carnitas’ Snack Shack. We’re having a Burger Bash in the Pig Pen! Chef Hanis Cavin will be in the Pen, our outdoor patio cash bar, cooking up his signature burgers, and Eater San Diego’s editor, Candice Woo, will be guest bartending at the taps with chef Brandon Brooks. Eater San Diego Burger $8 We start by fresh-grinding pastured pork shoulder from Hill Family Farm (from the Blue Mountains near Pendleton Oregon). Then we add carrots, peppers and parsley. Pork belly gets braised in molasses and sweet chili sauce, sliced, and then fried crisp and piled on top with fresh watercress. An artisan pretzel bun from local Sadie Rose Baking Company is spread with Tellicherry peppercorn and lemon aioli. And Sunday, we are pairing the Eater San Diego Burger with locally brewed Green Flash Cedar Plank, an American pale ale that nicely compliments the the peppery burger. (Sorry, but with all that pork belly on it, no discounts will be allowed for the Eater San Diego Burger, including Pig-Lovers and Foursquare checkin discounts.) SnackShack Burger $9 Carnitas’ SnackShack Burger is a grass-fed ground beef patty with our house-made bacon jam, topped with melting white cheddar cheese, crisp butter lettuce and juicy tomato, on a kaiser roll with SnackShack aioli. 30 Burger Bash Combos Starting at 1 p.m., Candice from Eater will buy a Green Flash Cedar Plank Ale for the first 30 folks who purchase an Eater San Diego Burger. With proof-of-purchase.* Certified Cicerone Dave Adams, Green Flash Brewing Co.’s tasting manager, will also be on hand to chat about the beer. So stop on by, have a burger, a brew and relax on our outdoor patio. It’s Burger Week! *Thirty “Proof of Purchase” receipts will be available at the order window. Offer limited to first thirty people 21years or older, with purchase of the Eater San Diego Burger. Must present valid ID. One combo per person.
