Join us at noon on Sunday, June 15, 2014 for our second annual Father’s Day Barbecue at Carnitas’ Snack Shack – North Park.

Our all-star lineup of fermented, barbecued and smoked delights will include contributions by Benchmark Brewing, The Heart and Trotter Butchery (soon to be opening their own shop at 2855 El Cajon Boulevard), The Smokehouse Kings, and Carnitas’ Snack Shack. It’s just what Dad would want!

Benchmark Brewing will be debuting their brand new “Offsides” San Diego Dark Ale at the Pig Pen, our outdoor patio bar. Offsides – a San Diego Dark Ale is rich & hoppy, with some roastiness, and earthy & citrusy notes from the hops. It’s going to be about 6.5% ABV. Benchmark proprietors Rachael and Matt Akin will be guest bartending, and Matt’s dad and partner Jim Akin from the brewery will be on-hand for a meet-and-greet. All Benchmark Beers, $6 pint.

Our friends James Holtslag and Trey Nichols from the Heart and Trotter Butchery will be doing live demos on the hour, breaking down a quarter cow from Dey Dey’s Best Beef in Lompoc.

Cuts will be available for purchase and take-home. A limited number of Butcher-to-Plate Specials will be cooked on the spot (prices will vary, depending on cut and weight).

Chefs Max Bonacci and Ivan Muñoz will be serving up some very special barbecue plates from the Pig Pen. Open-face Barbecued Brisket Sandwich, with butter belly corn, $6 a plate.
