Join Chef Hanis for Meat, Beer and Good Times at the San Diego SausageFest May 27, 2012 Meat. Beer. Good Times. Join Chef Hanis Cavin for great meat, craft brews and good times at LOUNGEsix, the rooftop terrace atop Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar! On June 20, Jsix Restaurant will host San Diego’s SausageFest, wherein local chefs will compete for the title of best sausage in town! “In this exciting and outrageous cook-off, chefs will enter their favorite sausage recipes, from chorizo to bratwurst, and present them to the public for a winning vote,” says Sylvia Van Peebles of Examiner.com. “It is our job as restaurateurs to take time out of our schedules to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful things we create,” says Jsix executive chef Christian Graves. “SausageFest is the perfect format for chefs to share their love for the craft of sausage.” Jsix invited local meat masters to participate, including Cavin. “It’s going to be awesome, and the competition is fierce — but friendly,” says executive chef Hanis Cavin of Carnitas’ Snack Shack. “Oh man we are honored to have him,” said Graves. “The chefs for this event are out of this world!” Chef Cavin will be grilling against meaty competitors including Graves (Jsix), Jason Knibb (NINE-TEN), Ryan Johnston (Whisknladle), Olivier Bioteau (Farmhouse Cafe), Max Bonacci (The Linkery), Patrick Glennon (Europa Sausage), Chad White (Gabardine), Matt Gordon (Urban Solace), Simon Dolinky (Saltbox), and Aaron LaMonica (Tiger!Tiger!). Attendees will vote for their favorite encased meats. Additionally, Lost Abbey will release “The Road to Helles,” a classic straw-gold German lager. Festival-goers can get in on the sausage for $10, while beer will be available for purchase separately and come with a take-home stein. So, come on out to the SausageFest to show your support for Chef Hanis and Carnitas’ Snack Shack!
