Carnitas' Snack Shack Chef Hanis Cavin at SausageFest 2013

Join Chef Hanis Cavin for great meat, craft brews and good times at LOUNGEsix, the rooftop terrace atop Kimpton’s Hotel Solamar! At 6pm on Wednsday, June 19, Jsix Restaurant will host San Diego’s SausageFest, wherein local chefs will compete for the title of Sausage King!
In this crazy cook-off, San Diego’s meat masters attempt to cut the competition for rights to the best sausage in town, and present them to the public for a winning vote. Come see who will reign supreme as this year’s Sausage King.
“It is our job as restaurateurs to take time out of our schedules to celebrate and enjoy the beautiful things we create,” says Jsix executive chef Christian Graves. “SausageFest is the perfect format for chefs to share their love for the craft of sausage.” Jsix invited local meat masters to participate, including Cavin.
Last year’s winner, Chef Casey Chapman (Coronado Brewing Company), will be defending his title against Hanis Cavin (Carnitas’ Snack Shack), Christian Graves (Jsix), Ryan Johnston (Whisknladle), Patrick Glennon (Europa Sausage), Matt Gordon (Urban Solace), Simon Dolinky (Saltbox) and chefs from The Linkery and Port Brewing.
Attendees will vote for their favorite encased meats.
Additionally, Lost Abbey will release “The Road to Helles,” a classic straw-gold German lager. Festival-goers can
get in on the sausage for $10 buy the remaining “Full Sausage Ride” for $30, while beer will be available for purchase separately and come with a take-home stein.
