The Feast: Carnitas Snack Shack Coming to North Park

We were featured in an article by Frank Sabatini Jr. in The Feast. Although we thought we were opening earlier, we’re now set to open Wednesday, December 7th!

“Replacing the shuttered Vietnamese Vo’s Cafe in North Park comes a kitchen that will beat to a much different drum — swine to be exact. By mid-October, the tiny space gives way to Carnitas Snack Shack, a walk-up eatery with patio seating that specializes not only in carnitas, but also in pork burgers, pork poutine and a host of other pig-based dishes that will rotate regularly.

Owners Hanis Cavin, former executive chef of Kensington Grill, and his fiancee Sara Stroud, who worked as general manager for Kensington Grill, Cucina Urbana and Wine Steals Point Loma, credit their 40-pound pet pig, Carnitas, as inspiration. That pig will be spared the butcher knife, although the couple will bring in humanely raised cuts of meat while fetching organics from local farmers.”
