Carnitas’ Snack Shack Hosting 1st Annual Strong Will Foundation Fundraiser

June 20, 2013

Tues July 9 — Join friends and neighbors celebrating the recovery efforts of Will Barton at Carnitas’ Snack Shack in North Park.
Will was nearly fatally shot while walking home from his restaurant job in Hillcrest last fall.

Will, center, with mother Marie, right, and stepfather RT Lonsdale, left.

Recovering from traumatic brain injuries and major physical gunshot wounds, his recovery efforts are quite complicated. Will’s attitude is positive; his challenges sometimes overwhelming, but the promise is great. Learning to walk, painting in the studio, and regaining independence are his family’s goals.

Will has recently moved home after spending months in a variety of medical facilities, and is happy to be once again living with his family. He is beginning to stand and walk on his own, paint with his hands and mouth, play harmonica, and is planning his travels moving forward.

This event will help provide Will’s family with the assistance needed for his rehabilitation. Thankfully, his progress is truly inevitable, and your attendance will directly impact his recovery.

This event features great local food, drink and art, including new works by Will Barton himself. Food and beverages will be provided by Carnitas’ Snack Shack, Barrio Star, Alchemy, Cups Catering, Andrea’s Truffles, and more.
